Status Quo live at Marquee Club on 28th November 1972, playing “Don’t Waste My Time” and “Paper Plane”, from the Status fifth album Piledriver, released on 15th December 1972. It was the first to be produced by the group themselves, and their first on the Vertigo label. It peaked at number five in the UK and included several favourites that would be featured frequently in live concerts.
“Don’t Waste My Time” is the first song on the album, and was composed by Francis Rossi and Bob Young. Lead vocal, Francis Rossi.
“Paper Plane” was released as single on 10 November 1972. Composition Francis Rossi and Bob Young. Lead vocal Francis Rossi. The lyrics included a reference to the Mercedes-Benz 600 used by the band, which they called a “three grand Deutsche car”
Charted No.8 in the UK, No. 11 in Ireland, No.42 in West Germany.
