Ella Langley
The Alabama songwriter who talked her way onto the Billboard Hot 100 and then took it over. Elizabeth Camille Langley was born on May 3, 1999 in Hope Hull, a rural stretch outside Montgomery, taught herself guitar on an instrument her grandfather left behind, and left college for Nashville in 2019. Sony Music Publishing signed her in 2021, Columbia and Sony Music Nashville in February 2023, and she made her Grand Ole Opry debut that same month, introduced by Jamey Johnson. The EP Excuse the Mess followed in May 2023 and her debut album Hungover in August 2024.
You Look Like You Love Me, her duet with Riley Green, opened with spoken narration rather than a sung verse — a device borrowed from old country recitations that turned out to be built for short-form video. It reached No. 30 on the Hot 100 and went to No. 1 on Country Airplay in December 2024, ending a 51-week run of male artists at the top, and won Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards. She took five trophies at the 2025 ACM Awards, including New Female Artist of the Year, and three more at the CMAs that fall. Dandelion arrived on April 10, 2026 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, led by Choosin' Texas, which made her the first woman to top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay at the same time.
