Lynyrd Skynyrd – Tuesday’s Gone
“A Southern rock classic, reimagined with strings, horns, and thirty years of road-seasoned soul.”
Lynyrd Skynyrd – Tuesday’s Gone (Live at Amsouth Amphitheatre, TN – July 11, 2003)
Recorded on a warm summer night in Antioch, just outside Nashville, this July 11, 2003 performance of “Tuesday’s Gone” captures Lynyrd Skynyrd blending their Southern rock roots with the added richness of horns and a small string section. The show formed part of the Vicious Cycle Tour and was immortalized on the Lyve: The Vicious Cycle Tour DVD (released November 18, 2003) and CD (June 22, 2004).
Originally released on August 13, 1973, as part of Skynyrd’s debut album Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd, “Tuesday’s Gone” was written by Allen Collins and Ronnie Van Zant. Its reflective tone, soaring guitar lines, and Al Kooper’s Mellotron strings made it a fan favorite. Thirty years later, the song’s emotional pull was still undeniable—especially in this expanded live arrangement.
