Adele Music Videos
English pop and soul singer · 2006–present
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, North London, on May 5, 1988, studied at the BRIT School, and signed to XL Recordings after a friend posted her demos on MySpace. She named each album for the age at which she made it: 19 (2008), 21 (2011), 25 (2015) and 30 (2021). 21 took Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You to No.1 on the Hot 100 and became the best-selling album of the century, past 31 million copies. In an industry rebuilt around singles and streams, she made whole albums of piano ballads about her own heartbreak and sold them as if it were still the CD era.
The Recording Academy named her Best New Artist in 2009, gave her six Grammys in a single night for 21, and five more for 25, including Album of the Year. "Skyfall" won her an Academy Award in 2013. 25 became the first album to sell more than three million copies in a single American week, and she was the first woman to hold three Hot 100 Top 10 singles at once as lead artist. 30 opened with Easy On Me, which brought her a sixteenth Grammy, and in 2022 she moved her live show into a Las Vegas residency, Weekends with Adele.
