Benny Blanco built his career on English-language pop — the producer behind a decade of radio hits for other people. So his newest project is a genuine left turn: Hermoso, his first full-length album inspired by Spanish-language music. Its latest single, “Te Olvido (La La),” released July 31, 2026, brings together two singers who share a surname but had never made a record together — his wife, Selena Gomez, and the Latin-pop star Becky G. A cumbia-inspired track sung almost entirely in Spanish, it’s a bright, danceable song wrapped around a distinctly unsettled question.

The collaboration sits at an interesting intersection of relationships. Blanco and Gomez, who first worked together long before their romance became public, married in September 2025 and released a joint album, I Said I Love You First, earlier that year. Becky G, joining them here, joked on social media about getting to “third wheel the chillest couple.” And then there’s the coincidence hiding in the credits: Selena Gomez and Becky G share the last name Gomez, but they are not related — Becky G was born Rebbeca Marie Gomez. Despite both building major careers across pop and Latin music, and despite that shared name, “Te Olvido (La La)” marks the first time the two have ever recorded together. Their voices trade Spanish verses across the track, circling the same frustration: the title translates to “I forget you,” and the lyric demands a straight answer from someone unwilling to define the relationship — decide this, so I can decide whether to love you or let you go.

A Chicano-culture celebration in Los Angeles

The video matches the music’s energy and then some. Directed by Stillz — the Colombian filmmaker behind some of Bad Bunny and Rosalía’s most striking visuals — and produced by the noted photographer Estevan Oriol, it turns the streets of Los Angeles into a vivid celebration of Mexican-American culture, threaded with lowriders, sparkling Lady of Guadalupe statues, and marionette dolls. Its biggest surprise is a cameo from the actor Danny Trejo, who turns up to smash a piñata and dance alongside Becky G at a street party. Rather than wallow in the heartbreak of its lyric, the video leans the opposite way, into confidence, friendship, and the pure joy of the three artists making something together.

Blanco goes Spanish

For Blanco, Hermoso — due August 14, 2026 — is a meaningful departure and, by his account, a genuine passion project, a full album built around the Latin sounds and culture that have long influenced him. It isn’t entirely uncharted territory: back in 2019 he worked with Tainy, J Balvin, and Gomez on the bilingual hit “I Can’t Get Enough,” and more recently he co-produced for Latin artists including Netón Vega. But an entire Spanish-language-inspired album is a new statement of intent from a hitmaker best known for English-language pop. “Te Olvido (La La),” with its cumbia pulse, its two unrelated Gomezes trading verses, and its riot of Los Angeles color, is the most vivid preview yet of where he’s headed.
