Billy Ray Cyrus Ft. Steve Ray Ladson – Its Alright
Elizabeth Hurley stepped behind the camera to direct her boyfriend’s new video — filming Billy Ray Cyrus at an English castle rarely opened to film crews.
The director of Billy Ray Cyrus’s new music video is a familiar face — just not one you’d expect behind the camera. Elizabeth Hurley, the actress and model, directed and produced the clip for “It’s Alright,” which premiered on July 31, 2026. She shot it at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England, a historic estate rarely made available for commercial filming, and brought her son, filmmaker Damian Hurley, on board as assistant director. Hurley is also, as of 2025, Cyrus’s girlfriend — which makes the video a genuine family-and-partners affair, and a striking new chapter in one of country music’s more unexpected comeback stories.

“It’s Alright” pairs Cyrus with Steve Ray Ladson, a breakout singer-songwriter and America’s Got Talent finalist whose soulful voice threads through the track. Co-written by Cyrus, his son Braison Cyrus, and Jordan Lindley, the song is about heartbreak, perseverance, and finding peace after life’s harder stretches — themes that land differently coming from an artist who has publicly weathered exactly that. It’s building steadily at country radio, recently landing among the Top 10 Most Added tracks on Mediabase’s country add board, and it draws its emotional weight from a setting soaked in history: Sudeley Castle is the final resting place of Katherine Parr, the sixth and last wife of King Henry VIII, who lived and died on the estate. The gardens, stone architecture, and surrounding countryside give the video a grandeur that mirrors the song’s themes of reflection and redemption.
Hurley behind the lens
Hurley is best known for her decades in front of the camera, but she brings a composed, cinematic eye to “It’s Alright,” using the castle’s dramatic scale without letting it overwhelm the two singers at the center. The production was, in Cyrus’s telling, a true team effort — his Billion Streams Entertainment label, a London-based crew, and the castle’s own staff — but he reserved his warmest credit for Hurley and Damian. The mother-and-son pairing extends a filmmaking partnership that already saw Damian direct his mother in the 2024 thriller Strictly Confidential; here their roles flipped, with Elizabeth directing and Damian assisting. The couple, who first met filming a Christmas movie in 2022 and reconnected after Cyrus’s 2024 divorce, went public with their relationship in the spring of 2025.
The comeback behind the song
“It’s Alright” is a highlight from The Hill, Cyrus’s first album of original music in fourteen years — a record widely received as a return to the plainspoken storytelling that made him a star in the first place. Built around themes of faith, family, redemption, and resilience, it reconnects the 64-year-old with his roots while introducing collaborations with a younger generation, including Ladson and Cyrus’s own daughter, Noah Cyrus. It is a long way, in every sense, from the 1992 novelty juggernaut “Achy Breaky Heart” that first made his name — and that distance is exactly the point. Cyrus has described this chapter as one where the music once again reflects realism, truth, and honesty, and being back on country radio, he says, feels like coming home. With a Hollywood director, an English castle, and a new generation of voices around him, “It’s Alright” is the sound of a veteran artist quietly starting over.
